Who Am I?
I’m Florin — someone who’s always been obsessed with solving problems. From childhood math puzzles to software and hardware debugging, I can’t rest until I understand how and why something works the way it does.
But the hardest puzzle I ever encountered wasn’t in code or mathematics.
It was in human connection.
The Story Behind This Site
Some time ago I found myself in a situationship that seemed to defy all logic. Someone who appeared to want closeness… but would pull away whenever things became real. Physical attraction and interaction – yes. Tenderness – hesitation and withdrawal. Deep emotional conversations – redirection. Simple gestures like holding hands – panic.
Nothing made sense. What appeared to be growing closeness transformed overnight into complete withdrawal – a pattern I later learned was textbook avoidant deactivation.
I spent a lot of time ruminating, unable to find peace, lost in the endless “why?” As someone deeply empathetic who feels intensely and craves genuine connection, their behavior was a puzzle I couldn’t solve.
Until I discovered attachment theory. Specifically – dismissive avoidant attachment.
Suddenly, everything clicked:
- The hesitation at tender touch = a protective response, not a lack of feeling
- Comfort with physical interaction but not emotional intimacy = a defense mechanism
- Withdrawal after closeness = a deep-rooted fear being triggered
- Small gestures of care from a distance = wanting connection, but only when it feels safe
Pattern recognized. Root cause understood. Mystery solved.
And in that moment – I could finally let go.
Why This Website Exists
Because I know there are others out there navigating the same impossible puzzle right now.
People who feel deeply, who offer authentic love and receive back… confusion. Withdrawal. Contradiction.
You’re not crazy. You didn’t do anything wrong. And no, you’re not “too much”.
You simply speak a language of love that your partner – through old wounds, not malice – can’t yet reciprocate.
This site brings together research, expert insights, lived experience, and practical tools to help you understand attachment patterns and navigate relationships with clarity.
What You’ll Find Here
- A free Attachment Style Test – to help you recognize your own patterns
- In-depth guides to each attachment style – how people with that style think, love, and what triggers their defenses
- Articles on real situations – breakups, pulling away, the avoidant discard, anxious-avoidant relationships, and how to tell attachment patterns apart from red flags
- Curated resources – books, research, and perspectives from psychologists and relationship therapists
- Healing pathways – because attachment styles can change with awareness and work
How I Write the Articles on This Site
Every article here starts from attachment research, not from opinion. I read the original studies and books behind each topic — from Bowlby and Ainsworth to modern researchers like Mikulincer, Shaver, Levine and Heller — and list the sources in the article whenever a claim depends on them.
Where the research is still debated or uncertain, I say so. Popular internet ideas like the “avoidant discard” or fixed “no contact timelines” are explained honestly: what’s useful about them, and where they go beyond the evidence.
Articles are reviewed and updated as I learn more or find better sources. If you notice something inaccurate, please let me know — I’d rather correct an article than leave it wrong.
My Philosophy
You can have compassion for someone without losing yourself in their pain.
You can understand why they are the way they are – childhood experiences, learned patterns, protective mechanisms – and still recognize incompatibility.
Empathy for them + empathy for yourself = healthy boundaries.
I created this site from a place of love and understanding – for those seeking clarity in the complexity of human relationships.
A Note
I’m not a therapist or mental health professional. This website brings together knowledge from experts, research, and personal experience to make attachment theory accessible and actionable.
If you’re struggling with attachment issues, relationship anxiety, or trauma – please seek professional help. Therapy changed everything for me (in healing my own anxious attachment), and it can for you too.
This site is a starting point and resource hub, not a substitute for professional support.
